A solution-focused counseling approach is used when working with individual students who might be experiencing difficulties that are impacting their school performance. With this approach, the goal is the focus on what changes the student can make to help solve the problems. Individual counseling sessions are short–term (no more than five sessions) and is not therapy. It is an opportunity for the student and school counselor to work together to address an immediate problem that is impacting their success in the classroom. If you believe your child needs to meet with a therapist regularly, please contact Ms. Conway for a list of resources or visit the Community Referrals page.
